SOCIAL PROJECTS
The Domini Corporation facilitates investment in the social development of the nation of Dominica through its affiliate Domini Community Projects, Inc. by partnering with indigenous non-governmental organisations to build capacity and provide vital humanitarian resources.
Resources and contributions are channeled into projects, ensuring accurate disbursements of funds and efficient evaluation and reporting to donors and investors.
Some of our Social Projects include:
- The City Squad - A youth biking patrol established to collaborate with the national Police Force, the Fire Department, and other competent agencies to promote well-being and security of visitors and citizenry in the city of Roseau.
- A Detoxification Facility and the Potter's House - A Drug and Alcohol Rehabilitation Centre which is needed both for the residents of Dominica and for neighbouring Caribbean islands. A detailed proposal is being developed for the purpose of securing funding towards building a custom-designed center of excellence for rehabilitation of individuals and training of professionals.
- Eagles' Wings: A medical-emergency evacuation Service to assist trauma victims in accessing medical care in neighboring more developed islands and further abroad. A detailed proposal is being developed for the purpose of securing funding. Administrative and social services are presently available to enable and assist those in crisis.
- SELAH - House of Hope: A place of Safety, Encouragement, Love, Acceptance and Hope for troubled teenagers. A Christian non-denominational residential programme in collaboration with House of Hope - Orlando. A detailed proposal is being developed for the purpose of securing funding.
- Rapha Ethno-Botanical Center is an Organic/Agricultural Community Project under the management of Domini Community Projects. Presently two properties have been ear-marked for development as model Organic Farms in the rural communities of Warner and Grand Fond for the cultivation of Medicinal, Aromatic and Culinary Herbs. Funding has been secured for startup of the Warner Herbal Gardens. Scheduled to open in early 2007. Additional funding is required for the second phase of development; a Training/Resource Center and Botanical Center.
